Cherai, cherai beach, cherai beach resorts!!!!!

Cheraibeach is an ideal place for relaxing and Rejuvenating our body and soul

Cherai is a coastal village located in central Kerala, India. This place is a unique combination of sea and backwaters rimmed by lush green coconut palms and paddy fields. The backwaters are a combination of lakes, lagoons, canals and estuaries. Cherai Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Kerala. The 15 km long beach is clean, shallow and is ideal for swimming, surfing and sun bathing.

ActivitiesThere are a lot of activities possible at Cherai beach. The water is shallow and is ideal for comfort swimming. Walking along the beach is another activity.

Early morning is the ideal time for a walk and you may be able to take a peak at the day’s catch in a boat. Another interesting feature of this beach is the variety of sea life you can find on the shore. You can find a wide variety of sea shells, sea birds and if you are lucky and adventurous you can even catch a large crab! Since the beach is long, this activity itself is worth spending a day.
To move around, you can also hire a bicycle from nearby .The local food is delicious especially the sea food. You can try out different crab dishes or the mouth watering butter roasted tiger prawns (which costs around Rs. 200 for 3 pieces). Another ‘must eat’ dish is the ‘Karimeen Pollichathu’.‘Kite flying’ is another timepass activity at Cherai. The beach comes alive during evenings with a lot of colorful kites. You can buy a kite for Rs. 10 and additional chord will cost you Rs.30.It is a ideal place to just relax and sun bath. Most of the hotels at the beach side offer umbrella/chair set.

Touch the soul of Kerala-Taste the real kerala foods

The food of any place is a true reflection of its resources, culture and the tastes and preferences. The cuisine of any place is to a great extent dictated by the available resources and also the weather conditions. Food is an important part of the culture of Kerala state .Kerala is the land of Coconut and the name fits just right for this land which has an abundance of coconut trees. This provides us with the apt explanation behind the dishes thus; coconut forms the base for most dishes here. In fact, meal time is one wherein all the members of the family get together and spend time with each other. Festivals and special occasions in the family or the society is also one where food takes centre stage.

The cuisine of Kerala state, rice is the staple food here. Closeness to the sea ensures easy availability of the choicest seafood. Kerala state are known for their exotic dishes and a delicious spread consisting of mouthwatering biriyanis, pathiri ( a pancake made out of rice flour), fish moilee(fish cooked the traditional way in coconut milk), meen pollichattu(fish cooked in a banana leaf) and other delicacies vegetable dishes .

Kerala Meals are prepared with a lot of care and attention to detail and constitute an important part of every household. A day would usually start with tea or coffee, followed by breakfast. Breakfast in the lower segments of the society is mainly rice gruel or kanji. However, dishes like dosa, idli, vada, upma, poori, pootu (steamed cakes made with rice flour) and appam are very popular. These dishes are also eaten for dinner in many homes. Lunch consists of rice served with delicious curries(like sambhar, dal or parippu, olan, kalan) dry vegetables(like thoran and avial), non-vegetarian dishes, pickles, pappad and the popular banana chips. The traditional meal of Kerala state served on the banana leaf is indeed very famous. This is a practice that has been followed for several hundred years and still continues in several homes. Known as the “Sadhya”, the meal served on fresh banana leaves consists of rice, curries, dry vegetables, pickles, pappads, banana chips and payasam. The payasam or kheer is the traditional sweet dish. It may be made with rice, milk and sugar or can even be any one of its delicious variants. The array of payasams range from the basic rice pudding to one made with lentils and jaggery and coconut milk. Believe me each one them is truly mouthwatering. Weddings and other auspicious occasions are not complete without an elaborate sadhya.

With coconut being available in plenty, coconut oil is the main medium of cooking. However, there has been a significant shift in preferences in the recent times. With the health aspect gaining prominence, many Keralites are shifting to low fat cooking oils. However, the flavor and taste of a dish cooked purely in coconut oil still remains unmatched. Discover the delicious cuisine of Kerala state on your next Kerala tour and you are sure to be left licking your fingers.

Nelliampathy-Nature make itheaven

Nature make it heavenon this earth

We visited this vacation Nelliyampathy for jeep trekking. It was ok initially, like any other forest path. As we moved deeper into the forest, forget that the path became narrow; it was nothing but ditches as deep as 2 ft and boulders. Not to mention that it was an uphill climb. We went for a wild treks in Nelliyampathy rainforests about 54 kms south of Palakkad City in the south western state of Kerala, India. It is a very popular hill station famous for its tea and coffee plantations and excellent weather conditions. It's called as the 'Poor man's Ooty'. It took me almost two hour from Palakkad. On the way we passed the town of 'Nemmara, and 'Pothundi Dam', a small irrigation dam which provides water for the rice fields in the surrounding area. After 23 hair-pin bends and really exciting uphill climb I reached my base at Nelliampathy where I had lunch and a change of vehicles as the terrain was really rough for the next phase of my journey to the top of Maampara peak at 5.249 feet above sea level.

A mountain jeep with an experienced driver was our companions for the final leg of this extraordinary trip to the top.´Raja´s Cliff at Maampara are absolutely breathtaking, both figuratively and literally. This amazing place is accessed by a jungle path, un-believably rocky and steep! At times the jeep ride Nelliampathy photos! The exciting way we took almost felt like going bang up to the zenith. The view from the top was stunning, literally adding colour and space to the word "panoramic", with the reservoir, rivers and mountain ranges all spread in front of you almost giving it a divine touch. The jeep ride for around 10 kms to the peak from the base at Nelliampathy will cost around Rs.500/- which can accommodate upto 4 people. If you are heading Kerala way there are a number of spots like this to explore with a little insider help which can also be arranged. I sincerely hope these photos are good enough to wet your appetite! Happy viewing!!! Cheers

One moment we were climbing up at somewhat 70 degree, followed by a climb-down at a similar angle. At one place, we couldn’t find any track; instead we were climbing a rock face. Throughout this terrific drive, we were holding on to whatever we could to prevent our heads from hitting the top of the jeep. Nevertheless, we were all laughing hysterically and singing a song made for the occasion

How can you reduce your travel cost?

Budget travel tips

You have plans to go on vacation. There is a cool vacation rental that you have in mind. It may fall a little outside of your budget but that is fine. You feel if you can properly budget other components in your vacation you should be able to make the entire vacation more affordable. Is this going to be as easy as it sounds? Well, it might not always be easy but it can be done provided you follow a number of simple deliberative steps. Any vacation can be brought in under budget or at least as close to such a goal as possible.

Here are a few steps:

1. Cut back on food costs - you could set a certain number of meals per week that will be made at your rental property and a certain number of meals that will be purchased at less expensive restaurants. Some may find this surprising but the amount of money you can save by planning out your meals can prove to be significant.

2. Renting a vehicle - a vehicle when you could get a decent rental for a much lower fee

Or  Select local transportation like bus or train.

3. Select a budget hotel /home stay before journey through internet.

4. Pre planed your destinations and traveling routs.

5. Plan your budget for stays, food and traveling expenses before your journey

6. Drink more water than food.

7. Keep a guide / book about the places, which you would like to travel in your journey

8. Select all-inclusive packages from a travel /tour operator- take the burden of planning off you. You know exactly what your vacation will cost when you buy it- although you do need to check the small print, because some holidays include more than others. The Curtain Bluff resort in Fiji is truly all inclusive. The price covers all food and drink, activities

Nothing provides the proper insight in how to budget a vacation that looking back on your previous vacations and noting what went wrong and what didn’t. This will better allow you to plan the process to great success. And that is what you want in the end is it not?

Of course, there are many other ways to make sure you can bring in your rental property vacation under budget. The tips presented herein can work a long way in this regard.

Hill Stations in Kerala

Lying on the windward side of the Western Ghats, Kerala has a long chain of lush, mist–clad hill stations that are homes to exotic wildlife. Kerala are also the source of some of the most famous Indian spices like cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and pepper. Besides the beaches and backwaters of this beautiful lagoon state, the mist-covered, dark and silent hill stations of Kerala are also major tourist attractions.

1. Munnar
A visit to Kerala is incomplete without a stopover at Munnar hills, one of the most picturesque and beautiful hill stations in South India and Kerala’s premier tea growing district. Located at an altitude of 1,600 meters above sea level, amid the dense Kannan Devan hills, Munnar is home to some of the highest tea gardens in the world. Munnar literally means "three rivers" and rests at the confluence of three mountain streams: the Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. Huge acres of lush tea plantations, cozy, cheerful townships and a pleasant climate all year round characterize the hill station of Munnar, once the summer home of British officials in the pre-Independence era. The highest peak in South India, the Anaimudi is located in Munnar, rising to a height of 2,695 meters above sea level. A major attraction of Munnar is the "Neelakurinji", a bluish-purple flower that blooms only once in 12 years. The vast majority of lakes, dams, wildlife sanctuaries and spice and tea plantations make Munnar an unforgettable holiday experience altogether.Must see: Eravikulam National Park, Tea Museum, Mattupetty Dairy Farm, Pallivasal, Chithirapuram, Attukal, Nyayamakad. Kundale Tea Plantation, Kuthumkal Waterfalls,

2. Ponmudi
Located at a distance of 61 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram, Ponmudi is a hiker's and trekker’s dream hill station. It is situated at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level and offers amazing facilities for trekking and hiking. 'Ponmudi' in Malayalam means the "Golden Peak" and this is one hill station that has not yet featured on the tourist map of Kerala. This fact only makes Ponmudi an ideal holiday destination for those seeking a quiet escape into the mountains, far away from the hustle-bustle of mundane city life. Ponmudi abounds in natural mineral springs and there are a lot of places to visit here, like peaceful tea estates, small settlements nestled comfortably in beautiful valleys, and of course, miles and miles of mist-kissed mountainous terrain. If you happen to visit Ponmudi during the months of August and September, you can witness the Aaranmula Boat Race, organized every year during these months. This race is of religious significance for the residents of Ponmudi, and forms part of the Aaranmula Temple Festival.

3. Idukki
Idukki is derived from a Malayalam word "Idukku" meaning "narrow gorge". Idukki is a hill station full of mammoth mountain ranges and deep valleys, with beautiful streams adorning it during the rainy season. This hill station is crisscrossed by three rivers: the Periyar, the Thalayar and the Thodupuzhayar, and their tributaries. Idukki is also the source of the river Pamba, which flows right through the lofty mountain ranges. A noteworthy fact is that the district of Idukki supplies about 66% of Kerala’s power consumption, thanks to the hydroelectric project at the Idukki Dam. This dam is the first arch dam in Asia and the second in the world. There is a huge tribal population residing in the hills of Idukki and even today, they follow certain inexplicable customs and beliefs very different from ours. Idukki is rich in flora and fauna and offers breathtaking views and attractions to tourists. Must see: Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary

4. Devikulam
Close to Munnar is the breathtakingly beautiful hill station of Devikulam, one of Kerala’s most revered destinations. Legend has it that during the days of the Ramayana, Sita and Rama, during their exile, travelled through this hill station and Sita is supposed to have bathed in a lake here. This lake is now called the Sita Devi lake, having taken its name from the fact that Sita once stepped into its waters. The hill station itself borrows its name from this very visit by the Goddess herself; Devikulam means the "Lake of the Goddess". The waters of the Sita Devi lake are supposed to be rich in mineral deposits and locals believe that a dip in this lake is a sure-shot cure for many ailments. Besides enjoying a refreshing bath at the numerous fountain springs at the lake, you can also enjoy fishing, which is one of the main tourist attractions. In short, the idyllic hill station of Devikulam is definitely worth a visit.Must see: Sita Devi Lake

5. Vagamon

The Kurisumala hill is a favourite with trekkers and the main attraction here is a small church that is located on the hilltop. The Kurisumala Ashram, actually a Christian monastery, is another serene spot never missed by tourists. The hill station of Vagamon is famous for its various tourist activities that include trekking, paragliding, mountain climbing, rock climbing and boating in the numerous small lakes found here. The best thing about Vagamon is that you can use it as a base to move on to the nearby hill stations of Thekkady, Kurisumala, Thangalpara, Muruganmala and Kulamavu. Vagamon, surrounded by lush green tea estates, is one of India’s biggest eco-tourism projects.

6. Palakkad
Palakkad or Palghat lies at the foothills of the Western Ghats, at the border of the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The Palakkad district is called the "Granary of Kerala" as most of the supply of food-grains comes from this district. The main attraction of this hill station is the Palakkad Fort, situated right in the middle of Palakkad town. Built by Hyder Ali of Mysore and later renovated by the British, this fort now belongs to the Archaeological Survey of India and is said to be one of the best preserved forts in Kerala. Other attractions near Palakkad are the ancient temple town of Thiruvalathoor, the reserve forest of Dhoni and the Malampuzha garden, famous for its man-made gardens, fountains, parks and pools.Must see: Thiruvalathoor, Dhoni, Malampuzha garden

7. Wayanad
Wayanad is derived from the Tamil words "Vayal Nadu" meaning "the village of fields". And Wayanad truly lives up to its name. Lush, green fields lining huge, mountainous ranges located right in the center of the magnificent Western Ghats, Wayanad is one of the most fertile and lovely hill stations of Kerala. Wayanad also has a historic significance and is believed to be the seat of the New Stone Age civilization, traces of which can still be found here. Virgin waterfalls, lakes, caves with ancient origins, and amazing wildlife, Wayanad is every nature lover’s paradise. This hill station is also famous for its ayurvedic resorts that offer some of the authentic Kerala Ayurvedic therapies. A major attraction of Wayanad is the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and if you are a true animal lover, you should not give this one a miss. Thekkady is famous all over the world for the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, once a tiger reserve, and today, home to several endangered wild animals. There is a beautiful artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar river and this lake is the main source of water to animals that inhabit the sanctuary. During summer, huge herds of wild elephants come down from the forests to the lake to drink water, and this is truly a sight to behold. This is the only sanctuary in India where wildlife can be experienced from very close quarters, thanks to the numerous boat rides on the lake, organized by the government.

9. Vythiri
Vythiri is a picturesque hill station located about 100 kilometers from Kozhikode and it is famous for its sprawling plantations of coffee, tea, rubber and spices. The main attraction of Vythiri are the Tree Houses, built on trees almost 90 feet from the ground. These tree houses provide a panoramic view of the valley. Rope bridges, built over streams, lead to the cottages and tree houses, and tourists flock to Vythiri for this unique dwelling experience that is truly, one of its kind.

Do you know the natural way to perfect health?

Ayurveda is a perfect ancient science of life; the word Ayur literally means life and Veda the science or knowledge. Ayurveda briefly explains the knowledge of the do’s and don’ts one has to follow, which favours the well being of each individual to lead a healthy, happy, comfortable and advantageous life both physically, mentally and socially. Ayurveda also emphasizes that prevention is better than cure.
  • Kerala The land of Ayurveda
Kerala's equable climate, natural abundance of forests (with a wealth of herbs and medicinal plants), and the cool monsoon season (June – November) are best suited for Ayurveda’s curative and restorative programs. In fact, today Kerala is the only state in India, which practices this system of medicine with absolute dedication.
Rejuvenate your body, mind and soul by taking Ayurveda treatment atleast once in your life time. You can take body rejuvenation treatment for seven days, 14 days or 28 days. If you have specific disease, please mail us and we will send you the treatment and the duration Ayurveda is also known as ASHTANGA VEDA ( the word literally means " Eight branches of knowledge") as it is divided into eight specialized branches. They are as follows
  • Kaya Chikilsa -General Medicine
    Kaumara Bhrithya -Paediatrics
Graha Chikilsa -Psychiatry and Psycho Somatic diseases
Shalakya Tantra - Diseases of Eye, Ear, Head, Nose, Throat, and its surgery
    Shalya Tantra - General Surgery
    Agada Tantra - Toxicology
    Rasayana Chikilsa -Rejuvenation Therapy
    Vajeekarana Chikilsa - Aphrodisiac Therapy

According to Ayurveda every living and non living being in this universe is a combination of five basic eternal elements, called Pancha Maha Bhoothas. Human Body is also constituted by this five eternal elements in various compositions. Hence it can be conceived that every cell of body is possessed with all the properties of life. The only difference of Human Body from the external World is the expression of CHAITANYA or consciousness or life spark or spirit or soul. The five basic eternal elements are (A). Earth (B). Water (C). Fire (D.) Air (E).Ether
These eternal elements manifest in the Human Body as three basic principles or subtle energies or humours (Thridosha in Sanskrit) The word Dosha literally means that which maintains and controls the body. They are Vatha, Pitha and Kapha. The Pancha Maha Bhoothas and the Thridoshas are not prevalent to the naked eye. But they should be conceived on comprehensive terms in which all physical structures and psychological functions of the body are included. the Air and Ether elements combined to form the Vatha Principle.
